Oct 16, 2008 - 1. Plenty of dangerous situations can have NO weapons involved. Many rapes occur by unarmed assailants for example. Same with child abductions.2. True.3. Many arts don't do this well anyway. People figure the TMA's will train you better in handling several attackers when they can't even train you in how to handle ONE well. Makes no sense.I agree with your last point, but it IS real fighting and THE BEST base for any other pursuits.Again thouh, eskrima is only for weapons.

Oct 22, 2008 - there seem to be plenty of idiots who love to talk, but when they do, they really show their ignorance on the whole subject of martial arts...For those types, best to keep it closed ok...

Oct 29, 2008 - judo is a great art and it always is a great asset to the arsenal of mma fighters, jiu jitsu is a great asset also both of the arts are an excellent means of finishing fights!

xymaster19 Says:

Nov 1, 2008 - your an idiot...bjj owns traditional jiu jitsu, i love judo but bjj is not a copy cat of judo either. their game is totally different.

xymaster19 Says:

Nov 1, 2008 - and where did judo come from? thats right jiu jitsu..so dont tell me judo didnt copy from jiu jitsu..bjj has traditional jiu jitsu and judo in there but what makes them unique is their strategy to it their newaza game is elite. i love judo but dont bash bjj or other martial arts.

greenbrad182 Says:

Nov 3, 2008 - they're all different, that's why they have different names, even though Judo did evolve from Jujitsu. Read up on Dr. Jigoro Kano

80JayJay8 Says:

Nov 3, 2008 - The dojo that i attend (Judo) spends equal time on Ne-waza and Tachi-waza, in fact sometimes even more time on Ne-waza

benelliman Says:

Nov 4, 2008 - There is no such thing as Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.JJ was born in Japan, not Brazil. However, to call it after a family name is correct. Therefore, it is GRACIE JJ, or ________ JJ, not Brazilian.

xymaster19 Says:

Nov 4, 2008 - bjj was coined by some members of the gracie clan..in brazil they call jiu jitsu..just jiu jitsu..but in america they call it bjj.

benelliman Says:

Nov 4, 2008 - There are many schools in Southern california with relations to the Gracie family. If what you're saying is true, then the Gracies here are fucking rude people for calling it BRAZILIAN.They need to teach the public it is Gracie JJ, not BJJ.Am I wrong?

xymaster19 Says:

Nov 4, 2008 - Your right, they did not intend to call it BJJ every gracie school iv been to they describe it as Gracie Jiu Jitsu. It was only coined to the american public just as a means to diffrenciate JJ and GJJ. The american population has excepted the term BJJ rather than GJJ. Helio Gracie has always called his Jiu Jitsu, Gracie Jiu Jitsu and has the up most respect for the japanese and their arts. Basically the uneducated people call it BJJ and the educated call it GJJ. I call it GJJ and love it :)

benelliman Says:

Nov 4, 2008 - cool. Thanks for clearing it up.Everytime I pass by the BJJ place, I'll say "Hey! you uneducated people!" and hopefully< i won't get thrown into an armbar

xymaster19 Says:

Nov 4, 2008 - np. haha hope u have good armbar defence :P

lcalmale Says:

Nov 6, 2008 - judo, bjj, aikido, karate all come from the same family which is samurai jiu jitsu read a book on historyjiu jitsu was illegal in japan for many years so they change jiu jitsu to judo to make it more safe

lcalmale Says:

Nov 6, 2008 - wrongthey need to call it what it isa art from japan jiu jitsune waza

benelliman Says:

Nov 6, 2008 - you're right about that.. cept one thing.Karate is from Okinawa, which is from China, White Crane Kung Fu.Karate is not a samurai art.Okinawans weren't treated as regular Japanese citizens until the 1900s.

urasj Says:

Nov 8, 2008 - Wrong. Jigoro Kano felt that traditional Jiu jitsu was become to stylelized, so he devloped Judo, removed techniques that could not be trained full contact so that one could ensure that the one could infact performe the technique against a resisting opponent.

alstjibo Says:
