It was only coined to the american public just as a means to diffrenciate JJ and GJJ. The american population has excepted the term BJJ rather than GJJ. Helio Gracie has always called his Jiu Jitsu, Gracie Jiu Jitsu and has the up most respect for the japanese and their arts. Basically the uneducated people call it BJJ and the educated call it GJJ. I call it GJJ and love it :)
